Volunteering

How many hours do I need to volunteer a year?

Every family is required to contribute at least 15 hours of their time through the various events and activities at the club. We require a $500 cheque to be handed in before your athlete begins their program.

I'm not a skier, how else can I volunteer?

Visit the job descriptions page for more detailed information on volunteering positions or contact our volunteer coordinator to discuss how you can contribute!

Races

On race days at other clubs, how are the "extra" tickets distributed?

This is different from team to team, year to year, and the hill you are at. But generally, you can purchase tickets and go skiing. Sometimes there might be 1-2 volunteer tickets provided, if this is the case, the cost of the remaining tickets to be purchased for all parents/siblings can be split so all benefit from the free volunteer tickets. Or the volunteer tickets are given to the parents volunteering at the race, helping with something on hill or with coat running. This is at the discretion of your team manager.

Should my child attend all of the races?

Yes, your child is in a racing program and ideally, they are able to attend all races. Attendance at all races is not required for registration at Glacier.

What do I do if I'm going to be late for training or a race?

Send a message to your team via Slack. This message will be received by coaches, your team manager, and fellow parents.

What's an invitational race?

During the season there are regular races, part of your circuit. Invitationals are extra, on top of those races. They are an extra cost, but often give your athlete the opportunity to do a race on the escarpment or at a hill outside of our circuit. These races are also often a high level, giving your skier a chance to really challenge themselves. They are also a lot of fun.
